Detailed Directions From O'Hare International
1. Get off the plane at O'Hare and follow the directions to "Baggage Claim" and "Trains to City" This will take you through security and down an escalator.
2. Follow the red arrows on the floor which say "Bus Shuttle Station" This will lead you down another escalator.
3. Keep going straight through a couple of double doors. When you see a man playing a saxophone you know you are getting close.
4. The train station has three large red pillars in front. Get a fare card at the vending machine in front for $3.00 (round trip) You get a 10% discount if you put in $10 or more.
5. Use the fare card to get through the turnstiles at the train station. When you put the fare card in it will come back up the same slot in a second or two. Keep you fare card. A sign over the platform will guide you to the next train leaving. O’Hare is the end of the line so you can't get on the wrong train.
6. Get off the train at the second stop (Cumberland). When you exit the train you will turn left and go up the escalators. Exit through the turnstiles (you don't need the card to exit) and turn left.
7. Continue straight ahead and take the stairs at the FAR end. At the bottom of the stairs you will be on a sidewalk.
8. Walk strait on this sidewalk about 150-200 yards (past the “Citicorp Plaza” sign) and you will see a street on the RIGHT that parallels the sidewalk. There is about 50 ft of grass between the sidewalk and the street. In good weather this is a good time to cross the street on the right and continue walking in the same direction that you were (but now on the other side of the street). In bad weather see 8a below. The first intersecting side street you come to is W. Gregory. At the 1 o’clock position is our complex. It is two rectangular 3 story brick buildings that are parallel the street and connected by a courtyard in the middle. Our building is the second building farthest from W. Gregory, on the south side of W. Gregory (you’ll be walking south on Cumberland out of the train station.
8(a) In bad weather keep on the original sidewalk until the light, cross there and backtrack (only 100ft farther, this keeps mud off the shoes and wheels). Our complex is along W. Gregory which is also the first side street you come to from that direction.
9. Your outside key will only work on the parking lot side, i.e., do not attempt to use the courtyard door. 8421 is the middle stack of three addresses in the building. The crashpad is on the third floor, #302.
